Yarning Along!

I am back knitting my Shalom again. I had to rip out almost the whole thing up to the yoke because the body just wasn't big enough. I think this time it's working out. I know I'm going to love this sweater if I can just get through the sleeves! It's getting cold too so I really want to finish it so I can wear it. My self induced deadline is for next weekend which is the fiber festival. I know I can do it if I just commit myself.

I am also knitting a cascade sweater for Miss Elise. I have a sweater that I made for Gabriella that fits Elise, but I did it with cotton/linen blend yarn since it was for the spring, and I just dislike the way it fits. The yarn stretched a lot. This is yarn I got at the thrift shop, so it's a very cheap knit. I am adding an extra leaf since I want it to fit her longer. Almost done with the body, then on to the leaves.

I have Christmas knitting plans, but nothing done and I am going to run out of time if I don't get started. I need to finish these two knits first though!

I am not reading anything myself currently, as all my spare time is spent knitting. But, I am reading Little House in the Big Woods to the kids. We read all the other ones, but didn't read the first. So we are going back to it. I just love all the Little House books. I think they will remain our favorites!

Yarn Along

I am knitting my 2nd sock of my first pair of socks! YAY! And they are for ME! Excited about how easy this is to do :) And I'm reading aloud to my children "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nihm". So far they are really loving it as I am. I also really like the shorter chapters making it easy to pick up and read a bit at a time.

Three Birthday Girls

Seriously this has been such a fun party to plan! We did a pioneer/Little House on the prairie theme and it turned out so great!! Here are some photos from the day.

 Eva is 4!

 Gabriella is 2!

My friend Joannie made each of the girls hand crocheted shawls that matched their dresses!

My best friend Stephanie knitted them each a doll! Such special gifts my friends gave!

 Trampoline fun!

I made a 3 layered(for each of the girls) lemon layer cake. It turned out pretty yummy!

Happy Birthday to Abi, Eva, and Gabriella!! We love you girls!!

Nearly 6 weeks

How can she be nearly 6 weeks already. I can honestly say it's such a vague memory of her not being with us. Hasn't she been with us always? This snuggly, little, sweet smelling baby of ours. Oh, we love her so much.

Yarn Along

I am reading Little Heathens. After Ginny mentioned it on her blog I thought it was something I'd enjoy.  I'm enjoying it so far. On the knitting front, I am knitting a shawlette for my midwife as a thank you gift. However having 5 small children I am not making very fast progress on it. But it's coming along alright. To see what others are knitting and reading go on over to the blog Small Things.
